Why You're Not Progressing in Pole Dance(And It Probably Isn't Talent)
Feeling stuck? The answer probably isn't talent. It's consistency, quality instruction, and practicing the right things.
People ask me all the time:
"How did you get so good?"
Most people expect some secret.
They expect me to say I was naturally flexible. Naturally strong. Naturally fearless.
The truth is much less exciting.
It came down to two things.
1. I Trained Consistently
There isn't a substitute for showing up.
You can't binge six hours one weekend and expect the same results as someone who trains two or three times every week.
Pole rewards consistency.
Brain neurons firing off seamlessly. Muscle memory kicks in. Core works alright. Your arms can handle it.
Every climb gets cleaner. Every invert gets easier.
Small improvements compound.
2. I Found Great Instruction
This is the part most people underestimate.
I've watched students spend years trying the same move with the same mistakes.
Then they take one workshop.
One coach explains a different grip, a different body position, a different engagement cue.
Suddenly...
Everything clicks.
Not because they magically became stronger overnight. They were likely ready for this long time ago.
Because they finally learned the cues what their body was supposed to do.
Good coaching doesn't replace hard work, it just points it in the right direction.
Talent Isn't the Limiting Factor
Yes.
Some people are naturally stronger.
Some people are naturally flexible.
Some people have good lines.
That's life.
But talent explains far less than people think.
I Believe Everyone Can Learn a Fonji
That's a bold statement.
I stand by it.
A Fonji isn't some mythical move reserved for those genetically gifted.
It's simply the end result of hundreds of smaller skills built in the correct order.
- Strength.
- Timing.
- Technique.
- Confidence.
- Quality coaching.
- Consistency.
Remove one of those pieces and progress slows down.
Build them together and difficult skills become inevitable.
Maybe You Don't Need More Effort
A lot of students assume they're lazy.
"I should be further along."
"I must not be training hard enough."
Sometimes that's true.
But often...
You're simply practicing the wrong things.
The fastest progress usually doesn't come from training more.
It comes from training smarter.
How We Teach at Louvre LA
Every class at Louvre LA follows a progression.
We don't throw random tricks together.
Each lesson builds the prerequisites for what's coming next.
That means less frustration.
Less guessing.
And much faster progress over time.
Whether your goal is your first climb or eventually landing a Fonji, we're focused on building the foundation that actually gets you there.
